2. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file stored on your device when you visit a website. Cookies help operate the shop, remember preferences, measure site usage and provide more relevant communications and advertising. Similar technologies such as pixels, tags, local identifiers and scripts may perform comparable functions.
Cookies may be set by Béthania Swiss (“first-party cookies”) or by external providers (“third-party cookies”). Some are deleted when the browser closes, while others remain stored for a defined period.
3. Categories of cookies used
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website and shop to operate. They support navigation, security, cart management, account login, checkout, session storage and abuse prevention. Disabling them may prevent some features from working correctly.
| Examples | Purpose | Indicative duration |
|---|---|---|
woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart |
Remember cart contents and changes | Session |
wp_woocommerce_session_* |
Link the visitor to their cart and WooCommerce session | Usually 2 days |
wc_cart_created, wc_fragments_* |
Refresh the cart and its items | Session or local storage |
| WordPress and security cookies | Authentication, security and technical operation | Session or chosen login duration |
| LiteSpeed cookies | Caching, performance and consistent site display | Variable |
3.2 Preference and functionality cookies
They may remember choices such as language, display, wishlist, certain product options or customer account preferences. Without them, some personalised features may be limited.
3.3 Analytics cookies
The site uses Google services, including Google Site Kit and Google Tag, to understand visitor numbers, pages viewed, traffic sources, interactions and site performance. Depending on the active configuration, cookies such as _ga, _ga_*, _gid or comparable identifiers may be used. Information may include the IP address, browser and device data, browsing events and online identifiers.
Retention periods are determined by Google and the service configuration and may range from the session to several months.
3.4 Advertising and marketing cookies
The site integrates Meta/Facebook and Mailchimp tools to measure campaign effectiveness, build audiences, limit repeated ads and personalise commercial communications where permitted.
| Provider | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Platforms / Facebook | _fbp, _fbc, fr or similar identifiers |
Conversion measurement, advertising attribution, audiences and ad personalisation |
| Mailchimp / Intuit | mailchimp_landing_site, mc_landing_site or similar identifiers |
Campaign measurement, shop synchronisation and communication personalisation |
Exact names and retention periods may change when these providers modify their technologies.
3.5 Payment-related cookies and technologies
During payment, Stripe, WooPayments and/or PayPal may use cookies or identifiers required for authentication, fraud prevention and secure transaction processing. These may include identifiers such as __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid, m, ts or equivalent technologies. These providers operate under their own privacy and cookie policies.
3.6 External services and communications
The site loads Google Fonts and offers a WhatsApp contact button through Joinchat. When you use WhatsApp or follow an external link, the relevant provider may receive technical information and process your data under its own policy. Simply loading an external resource may also transmit the IP address and technical data to the provider.
4. Consent and cookie management
Where required by law, non-essential cookies are used only based on your choice. You may accept, refuse or withdraw your choice for optional cookies. Refusing non-essential cookies does not prevent access to the shop’s main functions.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Procedures vary by browser. Deleting cookies may remove your preferences and the contents of an unfinished cart.
5. International data transfers
Some providers, including Google, Meta, Mailchimp/Intuit, Stripe, PayPal, Automattic and WhatsApp, may process data in Switzerland, the European Economic Area, the United States or other countries. Where the destination country does not provide a level of protection recognised as adequate by Switzerland, the transfer relies on appropriate safeguards, such as recognised contractual clauses, or another applicable legal exception.
6. List subject to change
The cookies actually set depend on the pages visited, features used, login status, browser, chosen payment method and provider settings. This list is therefore representative and not exhaustive. We update this policy when the technologies used change materially.
7. Your rights and contact
For any questions about cookies or the processing of your data, you may write to bethaniaswiss.contact@gmail.com or contact BéthaniaSwiss Sàrl at the address given above.
You can find more information about your rights in our Privacy Policy.
